Je emoties alsjeblieft: een feministisch dagboek
Your Emotions Please: a feminist diary
Feeling emotions doesn’t mean you need to act ’emotionally’. If we suppress emotions they will effect our behavior unconsciously, often leading to harmful behavior to others. Patriarchy falsely portrays suppressing emotions as more rational. When we learn to feel all of our emotions and talk about them, others will not have the burden to guess or work around our emotionally driven behaviour. From a young age men learn to suppress a big part of their emotions and that results in problems for themselves and people around them.
So thats why, in collaboration with Not Shit Print, we made a diary to help men* (and other people who want to use it) to create more space to feel our emotions and develop the capacity to express emotions by writing down our feelings daily. It is available in dual language: Dutch and English.
The diary contains:
- space for daily entries
- tools to help feel and understand emotions
- weekly questions on topics of importance to anti-patriarchal work such as consent, interpersonal relations, inner work, somatic practice
- and many other tools to carry out anti-patriarchal work!
All proceeds from sales raise money for the Maya Angelou Opvang, a safe residence for undocumented women to provide a stable starting point from which to work towards a better future, and a squatted residence in Amsterdam which has helped house a lot of FLINTA (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans, and Agender) people from backgrounds where this type of support is needed. If you are downloading the free version of the diary, please consider donating as well.
